Who am I? Friends could call me Amanpreet Singh Rai!!
When did I happen to the world? Well friends, I'm sure you already know about the meteor that killed Dinosaurs. That wasn't me. I actually blessed the Earth much later, at 8:55 am on a blissful Sunday morning, when everybody in Patiala (A city in the state of Punjab, India) was busy sleeping a bit longer, I woke up my mother. The day, 25th March, 1979, still forms the backbone of many a scary stories in my state.
What is my cultural and religious heritage? I am the first child of a Sikh family (by religion) and Jatt (by Caste). My father Mr Jagbir Singh Rai retired as a Bank Manager in 2006 (State Bank Of Patiala) and my mother Mrs Jaswant Kaur Dhaliwal Rai is still an Economics Lecturer in a Government run Senior Secondary school. I have one sibling, my younger brother Gaganpreet Singh Rai.
What is my educational background? By formal education, I am a qualified Forensic Expert and a high school teacher. I am a University Gold Medallist in Masters of Forensic Science (Spl: Chemistry and Toxicology). My other qualifications include a Bachelors in Science and a Bachelors in Education.
What educational institutions have I studied in? My entire formal education was completed in Punjab, India.
What cities have I lived in so far in my life? Born in Patiala, I've lived in Barnala, Nabha, Sangrur, Chandigarh and am currently based in Adelaide, Australia.
What is my background in entertainment industry? As an amateur understudy, I got the honour of learning and performing as a stage actor, under the auspices of Mrs Neena Tiwana, wife of the great Punjabi playwright and a producer of the biggest hit of Punjabi Cinema "Laung Da Lishkara", Late Mr Harpal Tiwana. Their son Mr Manpal Tiwana, and his brother in law based in London, Mr Navjyot Singh, they both gave me some of the most valuable tips on acting. As an artist associated with "Harpal Tiwana Foundation", I got to perform at 5 very prestigious festivals and stages. I was honoured when I got a chance to perform a small yet important and powerful role of "Rai Roop Chand," the great Rajput and Sikh devotee of "The Tenth Guru Gobind Singh". The play was Late Mr Harpal Tiwana's historical epic "Sirhind Di Deewar". I enacted this role at the prestigious stages of "Ferozepur Heritage Festival," "Shaheedi Jorh Mela of Sirhind (Two performances on consecutive days, in front of over 50,000 people). The performance of this play at FICCI, New Delhi was watched by honourable Mr Lal Krishna Advani (President Bhartiya Janta Party, the main opposition leader of the main opposition party of the Indian Parliament) who was the Chief Guest, along with his wife. I got the opportunity to touch his feet and seek his blessings. The last performance of this play that I was part of was at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. My last act with Harpal Tiwana Foundation before moving over to Adelaide was in the play "Laung Da Lishkara" (Which was an abridged version of the afore mentioned Punjabi Cinema Classic). The play was performed at "Patiala Heritage Festival" in front of hundreds of people. Harpal Tiwana Foundation productions are similar to Broadway Musicals of the West.
What activities am I currently involved in? Friends, I am currently working on two novels ("Mishiida Alexander" and "GOD of a man") both of which are available free on my website, for online reading. Other then that, I am currently working on my first song for professional release titled "Dance".
What instruments can I play and how well? I can play Piano, Guitar, Drums and Tumbi, all of them at an amateur level. Need some more time to be professionally competent for a stage performance.
Can I dance? I know Bhangra which is the traditional Punjabi dance used in most Punjabi videos. I know a few steps of western dance that I've either learnt from my friends or picked up from Bollywood movies.
What are the things I am crazy about? In one word, FITNESS!! I am an avid weight trainer but the essence of my efforts is to have a slim body with good definition. Remember friends, the golden rule of thumb is, lesser the weight healthier you will live.
Favourite sports and teams I support? Cricket (India and then Australia) Football (Manchester United) Tennis (Leader Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi as team, Roger Federer and Joe Wilfred Tsonja as individual players).
Books I love? Nancy Drew Series, Sherlock Homes Series, Ivanhoe.
Television serials I love? Ramayana, Mahabharat, Boston Legal, Bewitched.
What am I fighting for? Equality of all people ahead of their Colour, Religion and Caste. Betterment of Ordinary people. Saving Asia from modern imperialism. And The love of my life, the one I believe is the one GOD has made for me. I was told: "Go back to India and marry an Indian Girl!" I was asked: "Do you think they are rich?" I want to answer the two statements.
